Are you BUSY all the time?

Being too busy is one of the reasons we are not able to be present for our family and children. Be too busy also means that we don’t get time out to take care of ourselves.

When we are busy, we have a lot on or minds, like all the things we have to do, all the things that are keeping us busy! When we are busy with one thing, we are already thinking about the next and this is affecting our ability to be in the present moment.

You do have a choice

You know you don’t have to be so busy all the time, deciding NOT to be busy is a CHOICE we have.

The thing is, you’ve probably been busy for so long that you just think it is normal to be rushing around all day every day without a minute to stop.

It isn’t normal though because human beings aren’t designed to be on the go 24/7, we are not machines, we need time out, time to rest and recover and time to be present and enjoy life.

So what can you do?

I have 4 Tips to help you have a less ‘busy life’:

1. Make a list of everything you are doing?

Take the time to list absolutely everything you do every single day.

It’s quite an eye opener when you see it all written down!

When you see it in black and white you will soon realise why you are so busy!

Don’t stop there though!

You then need to ask yourself:

  1. Why are you doing these things? Is it because they are essential things that only you can do or have you just ended up doing them because you felt you had too, for example?

2. Do I really need to be doing this?

3. Can someone else do it?

4. Does it really need to be done at all? Can you just let it go?

Be a bit ruthless, if you’re wondering why on earth you are doing something then get rid of it or delegate to someone else!

2. Be present among chaos
  • When we have so many things to do, our mind is always on the next job before we have even finished the job in hand! Try and focus on what is right in front of you instead of thinking about the next thing.
  • Take each thing as it comes, keep breathing through it.
  • Just take on thing at a time.

This does take practice so don’t give in too soon!

3. Focus on what you do best and what you enjoy most

Stop trying to be everything and do everything!

Determine what you really need to be doing and do that.

If you have your own BUSINESS – figure out your unique skills and talents, focus on what you do best rather than things that are not your skill set. Look at outsourcing the things outside of your skillset.

In your PERSONAL life – giving up things, that even though you think they are important or even fun, don’t ultimately lead to more peace and pleasure.

4. Remember you are a HUMAN BEING and not a HUMAN DOING

You are NOT meant to go 24/7 at 100mph, you are not a machine. Your body needs to refuel, your mind needs to rest. So make time out a priority which should be possible now that you have let a few things after reading Tip 1!

P.s you might also want to consider saying ‘NO’ more often, because saying yes all the time will certainly mean you are always very busy!
