overwhelm checklist for female business owners

A simple check-in to help women in business pause, breathe, and feel less overwhelmed

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re failing.

It usually means you’ve been carrying too much for too long.

When your mind feels full and everything feels urgent, it can be hard to know where to start.

This checklist isn’t another thing to do,  it’s a way to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself, to help you feel less overwhelmed.

Overwhelm Check-In

1. Have I paused today

Make sure you pause, even if it’s just for a short time. A few slow breaths can help your nervous system settle.

You don’t need a long break for it to make a difference.

2. How am I actually feeling right now?

This isn’t about how you think you should be feeling, but how you really are.

Pause for a moment and acknowledge what’s coming up for you. There’s no right or wrong here.

Awareness is the first step, once we notice how we’re feeling, we can begin to make small changes that support our wellbeing.

3. Am I trying to do too much at once?

Overwhelm often comes from holding too much in your head, trying to do too many things at once, jumping between tasks, and never quite finishing anything.

If this feels familiar, pause for a moment and write everything down that’s currently taking up space in your mind, your to-do list, ideas, and reminders.

Once it’s on paper, your head will naturally feel clearer. From there, choose just 2–3 priorities for the day. Everything else can wait.

4. What would feel lighter today?

For a moment, let go of the need to be perfect and productive.

Pause and consider what would help today feel lighter.

It might be easing the pressure to do things a certain way or within a set time.

Or it might simply be letting something go.

5. Have I given myself permission to slow down?

Rest isn’t something you earn. It’s something you need.

Taking time out is vital if we want to reduce stress and overwhelm. It’s important that we stop, pause, and allow ourselves the space to rest and reset — without guilt

A Gentle Reminder

You don’t need to fix everything today.

You don’t need to push through or hold it all together.

Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is pause and create a little space, space to breathe, space to think think clearly, and space for better decisions to flow
