Have you found yourself thinking lately:
‘Why does everything feel harder than it used to?‘
‘Why does my business feel so hard right now?’
You’re busy all day, yet nothing really feels finished.
Your head feels full, it’s hard to make decisions and even simple tasks feel really hard
It’s easy to assume there’s something wrong with you, but that’s not usually the case
What’s really happening is mental overload and until that’s acknowledged, everything will always feel harder.
Why everything feels harder when you’re mentally overloaded
When you’re carrying to much in your head, your brain switches into survival mode.
This can look like:
- Difficulty concentrating
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Struggling to make decisions
- Feeling busy but not productive
- Jumping between tasks without finishing them
- Feeling constantly behind, even when you’re trying your best
This isn’t a personal failing.
It’s what happens when your head is full!
The problem with “trying harder”
Most women experiencing overwhelm in business don’t slow down, they try harder.
That usually looks like:
- Resetting plans
- Rewriting to-do lists
- Promising yourself you’ll be more organised next week
It makes sense. You want things to feel better.
But doing more doesn’t help when you’re already exhausted.
Instead of easing the pressure, it often adds to it.
And this is usually where good intentions come in.
.
Why good intentions don’t last
Good intentions need space to land.
When your head is already full:
- New habits feel like extra effort
- Planning feels overwhelming
- Change becomes another thing to manage
So even when you start with the best intentions, it’s easy to feel like you’re back where you began.
Not because you didn’t try hard enough, but because there wasn’t enough breathing room for changes to last.
What helps when you’re feeling mentally overloaded
This isn’t about fixing yourself.
It’s about reducing what you’re carrying.
Here are a few supportive starting points:
1. Get things out of your head
Write everything down — tasks, worries, reminders, ideas.
Seeing it on paper often reveals why your brain feels so tired.
2. Stop asking “what’s wrong with me?”
Replace it with:
“What am I holding right now?”
This small shift softens self-blame immediately.
3. Focus on fewer things at once
Trying to juggle everything is exhausting.
Less on your plate = more clarity.
4. Remember: relief doesn’t come from pushing
It comes from support, space, and doing things differently, not doing more.
You don’t have to keep repeating this cycle
If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated with yourself, this is your reminder:
You haven’t lost your ability.
You’re not broken.
You’re just trying to do too much at once.
And it doesn’t have to feel like this forever.
How do you turn this around?
Understanding what’s really going on is often the turning point.
Once you stop blaming yourself and start recognising mental overload for what it is, everything begins to make more sense, and change becomes possible again.
